TIGA CEO: Rapid increase in the number of VR studios

With the fiery reality of the virtual reality industry, quite a few developers turned to the camp and set up their own vr game studios. According to the latest report of the Independent Game Developers Association (TIGA), the VR studio in the new game category has the fastest growth rate, and the number is already equal to the multiplayer online game (MMOG) company. However, the number of VR studios is generally low, averaging less than one-third of MMOG.

The development cycle of MMOG is generally long and there are a lot of details that need to be polished. Therefore, more employees are also needed. From the studio's total point of view, the gaming team of the mobile platform is also at the top of the list. TIGA CEO Richard also expressed his opinion. "Only in the number of studios, VR is undoubtedly the fastest growing category, but also It is impossible to know how it will develop in the coming years."

Of course, there are also some developers who are developing cross-border development. GDC Europe's industry report shows that about 48% of developers are considering making VR content.

VRDC also released a survey this week, which shows the trend of platform selection for VR developers. About 21.9% of VR developers are more willing to develop exclusive content, 34.6% of developers decide to choose HTC Vive platform in the future, and only 3.7% of VR developers intend to enter the PSVR platform in the future.

However, at present, 12.9% of virtual reality developers have taken root in the PSVR platform, which is also understandable considering the overall cardinality of the host game developers.
