The ON Semiconductor extended RHYTHM DSP series is designed for hearing aids

March 27, 2014 – ON Semiconductor (ON NAS, NASDAQ: ONNN) , which drives energy-efficient innovation, designs RHYTHMTM series of pre-configured digital signal processing (DSP) systems for hearing aid applications, the latest Two new devices have been added.

The RHYTHM R3920 is a 16-channel device with advanced algorithms for high-end hearing aid applications. The RHYTHM R3110 brings new features such as noise reduction and feedback cancellation to the entry-level hearing aid market. Both new devices meet the stringent requirements of all form factor hearing aid designs, balancing high performance with energy efficiency.

RHYTHM R3920

The R3920 complements today's advanced hearing aid applications with its feature set and flexibility. The device offers sixteen-channel wide dynamic range compression (WDRC), allowing the audiologist to freely perform fine-grained fit. The R3920's integrated iSceneDetectTM environment classification algorithm identifies different sound environments and then automatically selects the most appropriate mode to deliver a high-quality, customized audio experience. Another new feature of the R3920, Impulse Noise Reduction, monitors and attenuates sharp pulse-type noise such as dish hum. Without this feature, hearing aid users feel uncomfortable. For hearing aid manufacturers, the R3920 can use the same shell, circuit diagram and design of ON Semiconductor's existing R3910 eight-channel DSP to help existing customers get their products to market quickly and easily.

The R3110 brings noise reduction and feedback cancellation to emerging and entry-level markets. The R3110 is a holistic approach that does not require computer adaptation or excessive infrastructure to drive adoption in these markets. The R3110 provides pre-adapted audiology parameters that eliminate the need for software tools and training to simplify the application process. The device can be configured in a variety of modes, such as a single or dual microphone, a tinnitus masker or a pickup coil.

Michel De Mey, Senior Director of Listening Solutions and Consumer Health at ON Semiconductor, said: "I am very pleased that our new RHYTHM series adds two new devices that complement our existing pre-configured DSPs. These products enable manufacturers to expand their markets. To meet the specific needs of more hearing aid users."

ON Semiconductor's complete line of hearing aids includes programmable and pre-configured DSP systems that provide high-precision sound, ultra-low power consumption and wireless capabilities to meet the needs of a wide range of hearing aid manufacturers.
