Government subsidies temptation Suzhou Chengxin round of LED investment hot land

On September 11, Wuhan LED chip maker Huacan Optoelectronics (300323.SZ) decided to invest 1.8 billion yuan to establish an LED production base in Suzhou.

On September 14, Xinhaiyi (002089.SZ) announced that its holding subsidiary, Suzhou Xinnajing Optoelectronics Co., Ltd. received a government subsidy of 15 million yuan for the development and industrialization of L ED extension and chips.

A year ago, Xinhaiyi invested 270 million yuan in Xinnajing with a combination of cash contribution and physical contribution. After the capital increase, Xinnajing plans to invest in LED epitaxial wafer, chip and packaging industrialization project, with total investment. The amount is about 690 million yuan.

There are indications that Suzhou has also become a new hot spot in the new round of investment boom of domestic LED.

Insiders pointed out that Suzhou has become a new hotspot for LED investment. On the one hand, it is the temptation of various subsidy policies of Suzhou local government. Another important factor is the potential market demand and perfect industrial chain in Suzhou.

"For government subsidies, the company will try its best, but the most important thing is to promote the development of the company through the market." Hua Can Optoelectronics Secretary Ye Aimin said to the "new industry."

Zhang Hongbiao, research director of the High-tech LED Industry Research Institute, believes that policy advantages and local government support can not only make up for the losses of enterprises, but also provide a source of funds for their expansion, which has become a key weapon for local governments to attract investment.

Suzhou charm

In fact, as early as two years ago, many companies chose to invest in LED projects in Suzhou.

In May 2010, the LED project of Ronda Electronics, a subsidiary of Taiwan AUO Group, invested 500 million US dollars to start construction in Suzhou Industrial Park. The project will integrate LED epitaxial wafers, chips, package testing, light strips and lamps into the upstream and downstream industries to create the largest LED industry base in the mainland, providing LCD panel LED backlights and LED lighting applications to domestic and foreign markets.

In January 2011, GCL Group, which is mainly engaged in environmental protection energy, photovoltaic power industry chain and new energy equipment manufacturing, announced that it plans to invest 2.5 billion US dollars to introduce 500 MOCVD to build Suzhou LED base. Although the project was later blown out, it is certain that Suzhou should set many preferential policies for the LED industry.

Perhaps based on this, in May 2011, Jucan Optoelectronics, which invested 750 million yuan, was formally laid the foundation in Suzhou Industrial Park. The project will be mainly engaged in the production of high-power LED epitaxial wafers.

In addition, Suzhou Dongshan Precision (002384.SZ), which is mainly engaged in precision sheet metal business, has been expanding its LED industry chain in the past two years, including LED packaging, backlight and LED lighting projects.

In February 2012, the MOCVD Training Center jointly established by Suzhou Institute of Nanotechnology and Nano-Bionics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and MOCVD (LED epitaxial wafer production equipment) giant AIXTRON was formally established.

A senior LED chip manufacturer in Wuhan revealed that Wuhan has little financial subsidies for LED projects, while Suzhou's subsidies are quite high. This is the root of Huacan Optoelectronics' investment of 1.8 billion yuan in Suzhou.

In fact, whether or not local financial subsidies have become an important reason for LED enterprise investment considerations has become an important guarantee for LEDs to obtain profits.
