GLII: Analyze the future development trend of China's LED fluorescent tubes

China's LED fluorescent tubes are still at a high price, but due to their energy saving, environmental protection and long life, they are widely used in parking lots and commercial lighting. According to the research report of the High-tech LED Industry Research Institute (GLII), the market size of China's LED fluorescent tube in 2011 reached 6 billion yuan. With the continuous decline in the price of LED fluorescent tubes and the continuous improvement of technology, LED fluorescent tubes are increasingly used in various application fields. It is expected that the scale of China's LED fluorescent tube market will increase by more than 60% in 2012.

China LED fluorescent tube development process

China's LED fluorescent tubes started later than the international market, but the development speed is much higher than other similar economies. In 2005, China's LED fluorescent tube enterprises began mass production. However, due to technical limitations such as LED light source, heat-dissipating casing and driving power supply, LED fluorescent tubes generally have defects such as low luminous efficiency, short life, high maintenance rate and high safety hazards. With the improvement and improvement of LED packaging device technology, housing heat dissipation, heat conduction board, driving power supply and other technologies, China's LED fluorescent tube is not only improved in light efficiency, life extension, maintenance rate is reduced, and its cost price continues to decline. The development process of LED fluorescent tubes in China is different according to different LED light sources, different heat sink materials or designs, and different power supply methods. According to different LED light sources, the development process of China's LED fluorescent tubes is roughly three types: LAMP series, SMD series and COB package series; according to the heat dissipation shell material or design shape, the development process is plastic type, semi-plastic semi-aluminum tube type. There are three types of all-aluminum type; the order of development process is built-in and external depending on the way the power is placed; the order of development process is T8, T10, T5 according to the structure model. The following mainly introduces the development process of LED fluorescent tubes in China according to the use of different light sources. Figure 1 below shows the development of the light source used by China's LED fluorescent tubes since 2005.

There are many choices of light sources, each with different proportions.

According to data from the GLII survey conducted in the first half of 2012, the light sources used in the development of LED fluorescent tubes in China have been F5 straw hats, 3528, 5050, 3020, 3014, 5630, 5730, 2020, F5 helmets, F5 flat heads, 2835, 3030, 3535, 2016, COB package and other series, the main light source of different choices of LED fluorescent tube development period is different. Figure 2 below shows the change in the proportion of different light sources used in China's LED fluorescent tubes in the first half of 2005~2012.

After 2008, the proportion of LED fluorescent tubes using F5 straw hats as the light source was rapidly reduced and replaced by other light sources. As of the end of June 2012, the market share of LED fluorescent tubes for F5 straw hat series light source has been less than 0.5. %, only a few companies still maintain a certain amount of production, mainly because their early customers still rely on such products.

In the second half of 2009, 3020 and 3014 gradually occupied the 3528 and 5050 parts of the market as LED fluorescent tube light sources. In the same year, the power of 5630 was applied to LED fluorescent tubes in a small number of enterprises, while the 5050 series light source used in LED fluorescent tubes began to decline;

After the second half of 2011, the proportion of LED fluorescent tubes with medium and high power represented by 2835, 3030, 3535, COB packaging and other series as the light source increased rapidly. According to GLII statistics, there are still LAMP in-line series, SMD patch series and COB package series used in China's LED fluorescent tubes, but the proportions vary with time.
