MAX3540 ATSC / NTSC tuner

Abstract: The MAX3540 is a fully integrated primary conversion terrestrial broadcast tuner IC that meets the A / 74 specifications of ATSC and NTSC. The MAX3540 can convert RF input signals in the 54MHz to 860MHz band into 44MHz balanced IF outputs.

lab testing

The performance of the ATSC system obtained when the MAX3540 is used with the ATSC demodulator is given below.

Detailed description

The MAX3540 is a complete one-time conversion TV tuner for analog / digital terrestrial broadcast receiver and digital set-top box design. The TV tuner consumes only 760mW when powered by + 3.3V.

The MAX3540 can convert NTSC or ATSC signals in the 54MHz to 860MHz band to 44MHz intermediate frequency (IF).

The MAX3540 includes a variable gain low noise amplifier, a multi-band tracking filter, a harmonic suppression mixer, a low noise IF amplifier, an IF power detector, and a variable gain IF amplifier. The MAX3540 also integrates a single-chip VCO, resonant circuit, and complete frequency synthesizer. The highly integrated design is very suitable for low-power on-board tuner applications, avoiding the cost and power consumption problems in the double-conversion tuner solution. The MAX3540 operates from 0 ° C to + 85 ° C and is available in a 48-pin, lead-free flip chip (fcLGA) package.
