The main research contents include LED lighting product brightness distribution, glare, color rendering and intermediate vision evaluation methods and measurement techniques, as well as research on LED health lighting based on photobiological effects, and establishment of health and hazard evaluation methods and measurement platforms for LED lighting products. .
Since the LED is a point light source, if it is used improperly or the light distribution is unqualified, the harm to the user will be very large. With the increasing use of indoor and outdoor high-power semiconductor lighting products, the "12th Five-Year" semiconductor lighting special plan also plans to deploy high-power semiconductor lighting products optical radiation safety research projects, mainly for semiconductor lighting products and semiconductor lighting The research on optical radiation characteristics, the establishment of hazard limits and hazard classification, and the development of optical radiation hazard detection methods and testing equipment for semiconductor lighting products with independent intellectual property rights.

"The safety and health of LED light sources is urgent and significant, which is not only related to the application feasibility and market acceptance of LED as a new light source, but also opens another brand new sky for LED applications--to health care These broader areas of application extend the commercial space and opportunities, which is interesting and instructive," said one business community representative. This is also the purpose of this salon event. Reasonable design and use will extend LEDs from safe to healthy applications

At the meeting, Professor Zhou Taiming from Fudan University said that the public is worried that LEDs will hurt people's eyes, and many experts are afraid to use them. The former chairman of the International Lighting Commission also had a process for the use of LEDs. At the beginning, he also had doubts about LEDs. But now his attitude is very positive, and he has done a lot of research work. He has an article called "Inconsistent Quality and Energy Efficiency of Lighting." This document focuses on the impact of LEDs on human injury. At the same time, the calculation was made at the same time. The conclusion was that we can use the white LED with a color temperature of 2700K-3000K and a color rendering index of 80 or higher. The use of 6000K at home is harmful.

In addition, Professor Zhou also gave a report on the dermatologist Tian Yan of the Beijing Air Force General Hospital who was unable to attend due to physical reasons, and introduced Dr. Tian's work in photobiosafety. Dr. Tian Yan invited more than 30 volunteers to receive a 30-day lighting experiment. The lamps used LED light source and the color temperature was 2800K. The experiment found that the volunteer skin did not change. Therefore, the experimental results prove that LED lighting is safe for the skin. At the same time, the fluorescent lamp contrast experiment was carried out. The results showed that the fluorescent lamp illumination was harmful to the skin, the color of the skin changed, the L value decreased, the M decreased, the A value increased, and the E value increased. The color of the skin turns red and the water content of the skin also tends to decrease.
