On November 28, the Guangdong Manufacturing Association, the Guangdong Industrial Development Research Institute, and the Guangdong University of Social Sciences Enterprise Competitiveness Research Center jointly released the list of the top 500 manufacturing companies in Guangdong Province for 2017. This year saw a notable increase in the number of enterprises with annual revenues exceeding 10 billion yuan, with 34 such companies identified. Among them, eight achieved revenues above 100 billion yuan, marking an increase of two from the previous year.
According to the rankings, Huawei, Zhengwei International, and Guangzhou Automobile Group stood at the top of the "100 billion club" with revenues surpassing 500 billion, 300 billion, and 200 billion yuan respectively. Companies like Gree Electric, TCL Group, BYD, and ZTE followed closely, each maintaining revenue levels above 100 billion yuan.
Overall, the top 500 manufacturing enterprises in Guangdong continued to grow in scale during 2017, achieving a total operating income of 3.14 trillion yuan—an impressive 15.4% increase compared to 2016. This growth rate was 8.86 percentage points higher than the average growth rate of China's manufacturing industry in 2015 (6.54%), indicating that Guangdong’s large and medium-sized manufacturers outperformed the national average.
Interestingly, two LED industry leaders, Mulinsen and Igor, were also included in the list. Mulinsen ranked 66th, while Igor came in at 264th. Their inclusion highlights the growing influence of the LED sector within Guangdong’s broader manufacturing landscape.
The ranking is compiled through a rigorous process involving municipal government departments, commercial associations, enterprise applications, public data collection, and expert evaluation based on internationally recognized standards. It serves as a reliable indicator of the region’s most successful manufacturing firms.
Mulinsen has been gaining significant attention in recent years, particularly in the packaging industry. The company has consistently performed well in various global and domestic rankings, including fourth place in the 2016 global LED packaging factory revenue rankings, 18th in the 2016 Global Industrial Semiconductor Manufacturers, and second in the 2016 China market LED packaging revenue. In 2017, it secured positions such as 485th in the China Private Enterprise Manufacturing Top 500, 84th in the Guangdong Private Enterprise Top 500, and 179th in the Guangdong Enterprises Top 500.
Igor also made progress this year, rising two places from its position in 2016. Being listed among the top 500 manufacturing companies is a testament to the company’s achievements and a motivator for future growth.
