On November 28, the Guangdong Manufacturing Association, the Guangdong Industrial Development Research Institute, and the Guangdong University of Social Sciences Enterprise Competitiveness Research Center jointly announced the list of the top 500 manufacturing companies in Guangdong Province for 2017. This year saw a notable increase in large-scale enterprises, with 34 companies achieving operating revenues exceeding 10 billion yuan. Among them, eight companies surpassed the 100 billion yuan mark, an increase of two compared to 2016.
According to the data, Huawei, Zhengwei International, and Guangzhou Automobile Group occupied the top three positions among the “100 billion clubs,†with revenues over 500 billion, 300 billion, and 200 billion yuan respectively. Other major players such as Gree Electric, TCL Group, BYD, and ZTE followed closely, all maintaining revenue levels above 100 billion yuan.
Overall, the top 500 manufacturing companies in Guangdong continued to grow in scale in 2017, achieving a total operating income of 3.14 trillion yuan. This represents a 15.4% increase from the previous year, outpacing the national average growth rate of China’s manufacturing industry in 2015 by 8.86 percentage points. This indicates that Guangdong's large and medium-sized manufacturing enterprises are performing better than the national average.
Notably, LED companies Mulinsen and Igor were also recognized in the list. Mulinsen ranked 66th, while Igor came in at 264th. Their inclusion highlights the growing influence of the LED sector in Guangdong's industrial landscape.
The ranking is compiled through a rigorous process involving municipal government departments, commercial associations, company applications, public data collection, and expert reviews based on established criteria. It is considered one of the most authoritative lists in the region.
Mulinsen has been gaining increasing attention in recent years, particularly in the packaging industry, where it has achieved significant success. In 2016, it ranked fourth globally in LED packaging revenue, 18th in global industrial semiconductor manufacturing, and second in China's LED packaging market. In 2017, it placed 485th in the China Private Enterprise Manufacturing Top 500, 84th in the Guangdong Private Enterprise Top 500, and 179th in the Guangdong Enterprises Top 500.
Igor also made progress this year, climbing two places from its position in 2016. Being selected for the top 500 list is not only a recognition of its achievements but also a motivation for further growth.
