"Smart Logistics" Mardi Gras Robotic Wars will open soon

The annual Double 11 shopping festival is just around the corner, and it remains one of the most anticipated and influential online sales events of the year. Every year, as e-commerce platforms roll out their biggest promotions, the logistics industry faces a major challenge. However, with the rapid development of technology, logistics has evolved into a smart and efficient system. "Smart Logistics" has now become a key trend, revolutionizing how goods are stored, sorted, and delivered. Let’s take a closer look at how leading e-commerce companies are leveraging smart logistics to handle the massive demand during this period. [Image: Logistics robot] Starting with Alibaba, the company has made significant strides in smart warehousing. Last year, Alibaba’s “Intelligent Warehouse” in Haining, built by its rookie network, went live. This was China’s first fully automated warehouse that uses machines instead of manual labor for sorting and packing. It also featured the newly developed intelligent AGV (Automated Guided Vehicle) robots, which have been widely showcased in recent years. This year, Alibaba has upgraded its robotic storage system, making it even more advanced. The new warehouse, which was announced in August, is larger than the previous one, and the number of working robots has increased significantly. According to reports, the new smart warehouse is home to over 150 AGV robots, the largest number in the country. In just one hour, the entire warehouse can be emptied, showcasing the efficiency of smart logistics. [Image: Smart warehouse] Moving on to JD.com, the company recently unveiled its first full-process intelligent unmanned warehouse in Shanghai. Covering an area of 40,000 square meters, the facility includes four core systems: receiving, storage, order picking, and packaging. The storage system consists of eight shuttle trains and can hold up to 60,000 boxes at once. JD's warehouse employs a variety of specialized robots that work together to complete tasks such as order processing, automatic collision avoidance, path optimization, and package sorting. These robots not only follow system instructions but also operate autonomously, ensuring high efficiency and accuracy throughout the process. The entire warehouse is fully automated, with 100% coverage of intelligent equipment, making it a bold innovation in the field of smart logistics. Unlike Alibaba and JD, Suning’s Tesco has taken a different approach by introducing Cobos robots in its physical stores. Starting in November, the first batch of these smart retail robots will be deployed in Suning’s unmanned stores and other brick-and-mortar locations. These robots offer a range of services, including navigation assistance, product information delivery, and customer interaction. Additionally, the Cobos robots integrate with Suning’s “V-purchase” system, providing remote shopping assistance for VIP customers. They help parents with children by offering personalized recommendations, making the shopping experience more convenient and enjoyable. Through real-time data collection and analysis, these robots support integrated retail marketing strategies, enhancing customer satisfaction and loyalty. With the expected courier volume during the Double 11 period (November 11–16) reaching over 1 billion packages, major e-commerce companies are investing heavily in smart logistics solutions. From automated warehouses to AI-powered robots, the industry is witnessing a transformation that ensures faster, more accurate, and more efficient delivery services. As technology continues to advance, the future of logistics looks brighter than ever.
