Disney is developing an enhanced tactile feedback VR 360 degree seat

Disney is one of the first film animation companies to embrace VR. They have some VR content on the Oculus Rift and Gear VR platforms. There is no VR experience based on HTC Vive.

But their research firm, Disney Research, published a paper describing a VR360° Player for enhanced haptic feedback. The article describes a position tracking controller, the HapTIc Chair, that goes beyond the existing Oculus Touch or Vive handles. It has six tactile transmissions on the back and two subwoofers in the seat. It is not yet confirmed that Disney's purpose in developing such a tactile feedback seat is to sell it as a peripheral for VR head-mounted or is it just to demonstrate their VR movie?

At the Oculus Developer Conference held last month, Disney and Oculus reached a strategic partnership to develop more VR experiences based on the IP of Disney's classic characters.
