The Atmel ATECC108 solution features advanced security features to support some of the latest security standards from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), including P256, B283 and K283 elliptic curves, and FIPS 186-3 Elliptic curve digital signature algorithm. This easy-to-use solution features up to 8.5Kb EEPROM, allows storage of up to 16 keys, a unique 72-bit serial number, and a FIPS-based random number generator. These combination features make the TECC108 solution suitable for consumer electronics. , consumables, medical devices, industrial, automation, and IP licensing applications that require more security controls when communicating with other devices or the Internet.
ATECC108 is the ideal solution for certifying system accessories, consumables and spare parts. By certifying, OEM-only authorized accessories are only shared with their equipment, and manufacturers can ensure that their revenue streams and product quality are protected. The device also offers a lower overall BOM cost because the host only needs to store the public key, and the accessory side only needs a security chip, and there is no need to protect the key stored on the host system side. This device is easy to design and use, and in many cases only requires software upgrades on the host system.
