China's sensor industry will increase by 1/3 in 2015

The scale and application scope of the domestic sensor industry is still at the initial stage of industrial development. The Internet of Things projects that have been implemented are all demonstration projects such as bird monitoring in Qinghai Lake and water environment monitoring in Taihu Lake.

"In order to fully apply the Internet of Things to logistics, medical, environmental, industrial and agricultural fields, the price of sensors and sensor chips can only be 1/10 or 1/100 now." Beijing Kunlun Coast Sensing Technology Center (hereinafter referred to as " Coast Sensing's chief engineer pointed out to the "First Financial Daily" in the Ming Dynasty that at present, the domestic sensor industry is actually stuck in a "dead cycle" where the market application scale is too small and the sensor manufacturers lack motivation.

At present, Beijing’s key application research center for the Internet of Things was established. 11 companies and companies including Coast Sensing participated in the project and are preparing to make joint operations to make up for the shortcomings of the domestic sensor industry. "The research center will adopt a corporatization operation, and 11 units will raise at least 50 million yuan of operating funds, and the rest of the funding gap will be applied for financial subsidies from the state and local governments." The Ming Dynasty all said that if domestic sensing companies are not united, Under the current market size, it is difficult to make major breakthroughs in a short period of time.

“There are about 30 listed companies in the IoT related business in China, and the number is relatively small compared to other industries, but each volume is not large.” Zhang Xiaofei, director of the China Sensing Industry Research Center pointed out that the key to the future of the Internet of Things lies in RFID and sensors. In the field of embedded software and data transmission calculations, domestic companies are not monopolized in any field. In terms of RFID technology, the United States is the only one with its patent applications exceeding the sum of regional patent applications filed by the European Union, the World Intellectual Property Organization, Japan, and mainland China. The number of patents accounts for 53% of the total; and the total number of RFID companies in China About 100 or so, but the general lack of key core technologies.

"And Japan and Europe have absolute advantages in the sensor technology. The domestic high-end sensor market basically relies on imports." Zhang Xiaofei said. The Ming Dynasty also said that domestic energy companies and petrochemical companies are all large-scale sensors, but they are imported in batches. Because the level of sensor products of domestic enterprises, it is impossible to meet the requirements of these large customers.

"The current domestic sensor industry's trick is: large companies are reluctant to do, small businesses can not do it." The Ming Dynasty pointed out that because each area needs to be tailor-made sensors, although there is a market demand, but the market size is not large, leading to The technical input costs of sensor manufacturers are too high; on the contrary, sensor product technologies are based on new sensitive materials, nanotechnology, biotechnology, biomimetic technology, new energy storage technologies, and extremely low energy consumption technologies. Small businesses do not have such technologies at all. technical skills.

"Because there is no large-scale application, domestic sensor products generally have the contradiction of low technology level and high price," said the Ming Dynasty.

In 2008, the world's sensor market capacity was approximately US$45.6 billion. It is estimated that in 2010, the world's sensor market can reach more than US$66 billion. The world is now about 40 countries engaged in the development and production of sensors, research and development, production units have more than 5,000, more than 20,000 products.

"Although there are 1,688 enterprises in the country engaged in the development, production and application of sensors, of which more than 50 are engaged in the development and production of MEMS, but the scale and application areas are small." Zhang Xiaofei pointed out that in the international market, Germany, Companies in old industrial countries such as Japan, the United States, and Russia have dominated the sensor market. Many manufacturers have achieved large-scale production. Some companies have an annual production capacity of tens of millions or even hundreds of millions. In contrast, the application range of China's sensors is narrow, and more applications still remain in basic application areas such as industrial measurement and control.

Although the Internet of Things has been very hot in China in the past two years, the domestic sensor market has not experienced rapid growth. Most of the Internet of Things projects are still in the demonstration phase. "Sensor technology is one of the basic technologies of the Internet of Things. Without the smart sensor, there is no way to talk about the Internet of Things." The Ming Dynasty pointed out that the key problem in the domestic sensor industry is how to quickly transform the research results into commodities. " It is estimated that it will take at least 5 to 10 years to change the current status of the domestic sensor industry."

According to the forecast of the Institute of Microelectronics of China Electronic Information Industry Development Research Institute, the sales volume of the Chinese sensor market will reach 90.5 billion yuan this year. In the next five years, the average sales growth rate of the domestic sensor market will reach 31%.
