Munich, Germany, May 19, 2016 – Infineon Technologies AG (FSE: IFX / OTCQX: IFNNY) brings a new wide package to its EiceDRIVERTM Compact isolated gate driver IC family. The new 1EDI Compact 300 mil device is available in a DSO-8 300 mil package to increase creepage and improve thermal performance.
The new IC has a creepage distance of 8 mm and an input-to-output isolation voltage of 1200 V. They are designed to drive high voltage power MOSFETs and IGBTs. Target applications include general purpose and photovoltaic inverters, industrial frequency converters, electric vehicle charging stations, welding equipment, and commercial and agricultural vehicles. Optimized pins simplify PCB design and enable low impedance power supplies. Like other members of the Infineon EiceDRIVERTM product family, the 1EDI Compact 300 mil drive is based on Infineon's coreless transformer technology. The latest driver ICs can achieve an output current of up to 6 A.
Product information and time to market
The IC can provide different drive currents of 0.5A (1EDI05I12AH), 2A (1EDI20I12AH), 4A (1EDI40I12AH) and 6A (1EDI60I12AH) on separate sink and pull current output pins. The typical delay for these devices is 300 nanoseconds. For faster applications, the 1EDI20H12AH and 1EDI60H12AH have a reduced latency of only 120 nanoseconds, making them ideal for today's and tomorrow's SiC-MOSFET-based applications. The other three models (1EDI10I12MH, 1EDI20I12MH and 1EDI30I12MH) are equipped with an integrated Miller clamp to provide the corresponding output currents 1A, 2A and 3A.
