Daihatsu Industrial exhibited the concept car "D-X" at the "42nd Tokyo Motor Show 2011" (opened to the public on December 3-11, 2011, Tokyo Tomei International Convention and Exhibition Center), which is equipped with a turbo Pressure-pressurized new twin-cylinder direct injection engine (Figure 1). The new engine has a displacement of 660mL, a maximum output of 47kW/6000rpm and a maximum torque of 110N·m/2000rpm (Figure 2). Dafa Industrial's “Mira e:Sâ€, which was launched in September 2011, also uses the same displacement engine with a fuel efficiency of 30.0km/L, but the maximum output power and maximum torque are 38kW and 60N·m, respectively. For new engines. From the point of view of the new engine's output power and torque increase, it can be said that the new engine has greatly improved the efficiency.
Daihatsu Industries exhibited the engine at the Tokyo Motor Show held in 2009. The characteristics highlighted at the time were as follows: (1) is a two-cylinder engine with less heat loss; (2) the main purpose of boosting is to increase EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) to improve fuel efficiency (improve fuel efficiency); (3) direct injection engine, etc. (refer to our website). This time, the fuel efficiency was further improved by using the active ignition method independently developed by Daihatsu Industries, and the fuel efficiency target of 35km/L was established for the first time.
The active ignition technique is a method of applying a high-frequency electric field to a combustion chamber when igniting with a normal plug, so that a mixed gas in the combustion chamber generates a radical and is more susceptible to combustion reaction. Although increasing the amount of EGR helps to improve fuel efficiency, if it is excessively increased, the combustion becomes unstable. To this end, Daihatsu uses an active ignition method to stabilize the combustion state. As a result, the amount of EGR is greatly increased, and the fuel efficiency is greatly improved.
