Smart home temperature control system Cosy: more than heating controller

Speaking of thermostats, you have to mention Nest, a product that Google bought for $3.2 billion undoubtedly ignited the smart home market. For how to create a smarter home environment, the geo team from Cambridge, England has a broader idea than Nest: how to connect all the appliances in the home?

Based on this idea, the geo team developed the smart home temperature control system Cosy. Cosy connects all the devices in the home by transmitting a 868MHz RF signal.

Unlike most smart home products, Cosy is not a standalone product. It includes a suite of kits: a connection center, a display unit, a switch, and an app. The kits are used for each purpose: the connection center is used to connect and coordinate all devices connected to Cosy, including an Ethernet interface and a USB interface; the display unit has a built-in temperature sensor and two LCD displays, and one for adjustment Four heating mode buttons, the user is equivalent to a traditional thermostat; wireless light is used to control the communication switch. Users can control the temperature of their home devices through the App on their iPhone or Android device.

In an interview with TechCrunch, the team spoke out their understanding of smart home products:

“We understand the emotional meaning of 'comfort', it involves light, warmth, safety and lifestyle... our understanding of this is more than just heating. We have added OTA upgrades to the Cosy system, so early supporters also We can get future development capabilities. We are building a home interconnect system that is more than just a heating controller."

The team revealed that Cosy's roadmap will also include temperature sensors, temperature control valves, power and gas monitors, solar monitoring and control. “Everything points to an interconnected home environment that is controlled by the connection center and sends and receives data.”

The Cosy temperature control system also supports multiple users, so Cosy will respond differently to different user preferences. Users can view other people's operation records at any time.

Cosy is currently financing on Kickstarter for 150 euros.
