Processor market slumps Intel shares rise

According to the latest data from market research agency IDC, the PC processor market in the fourth quarter of 2010 was greatly impacted by tablet PCs and smart phones, and the overall performance remained unchanged compared to the third quarter of 2010 and the fourth quarter of 2009. Even fell less than 1%.

In spite of this, Intel still consolidated its position as the leader, with market share increasing by 0.4 percentage points to 80.8%, AMD losing 0.3% to 18.9%, and the remaining 0.3% to VIA.

Intel’s most aggressive areas are servers and workstations, with a 94.2% share of monopoly. Even in the “weakest” desktop area, Intel also occupied 72.5%, and it also increased by 0.7% compared to the previous quarter.

Throughout 2010, Intel gained a 1.1% share, holding 80.7% of the market. AMD and VIA were respectively 18.2% and 1.1%.
