This afternoon, I helped a colleague fix a Skyworth LCD TV model 37L02RM. The main issue was no sound, no TV signal, and no AV input, but there was always music playing when the TV was turned on. At first, I checked the power board voltages: 5V, 12V (measured at 11.35V), and 24V (measured at 23.30V) were all within normal ranges. All capacitors looked good with no signs of bulging or leakage. Then I moved to the motherboard and checked voltages like 1.2V, 3.3V, and 5V — they were all stable. I couldn’t figure out what was wrong. I decided to take it slow and check for any possible issues that might be causing the problem. Since the TV had audio but no video, I assumed the amplifier was working fine. Could it be a data corruption issue? I tried clearing the user memory chip, which was a 93C32. But since we didn’t have a programmer in the store, I took a risk. With the TV off, I used a screwdriver to short pins 5 and 6 of the 93C32, then turned the TV on. After a few seconds, I removed the screwdriver. To my relief, the program sound came back! It worked! I took some photos of the process for reference.
