Former 3dfx vice president of hardware management, Brian Kelleher, senior vice president of NVIDIA GPU engineering, wrote an article on the company's blog recently to reveal the status of some NVIDIA 28nm process products. Kelleher said that NVIDIA's 28nm GPU will focus on performance per watt of power. Kelleher said that the NVIDIA Advanced Technology Task Force (ATG) has realized the difficulties in converting to the 40nm process. The working group is currently stationed at the TSMC plant, and its work focuses on eliminating the bugs in actual samples jointly with the TSMC engineers.
Kelleher revealed that the 28nm GeForce GTX and Quadro products will soon appear. Many sources previously pointed out that NVIDIA's next-generation Kepler core will be first applied to notebook graphics cards. Kelleher’s position may be the first indication that 28nm will be used in Fermi core desktop and professional graphics cards.
