Haier’s net profit increased by nearly 80% in the first half

The integrated channel service has replaced washing machines as the largest source of sales revenue for Haier Electronics (01169.HK).

Haier Electric released its semi-annual report yesterday: In the first half of this year, sales revenue reached 24.149 billion yuan, up 67.9% year-on-year; net profit reached 586 million yuan, up 79% year-on-year.

The rapid growth of Haier's performance in the first half of the year was mainly attributable to the significant increase in revenue from the channel integrated services business. At the same time, the washing machine and water heater business also maintained steady growth.

In the first half of this year, Haier Electronics acquired assets such as Hefei Riysun and Yantai Rishun through its subsidiary, Chongqing Riri Shun, and the income of the channel integrated service business, which is dominated by “Sunshun”, surged 123.9% year-on-year to 222.34. 100 million yuan. Looking at the composition of classified income, integrated channel services accounted for 76% of Haier’s total revenue in the first half of the year, while washing machines and water heaters accounted for only 18% and 6% respectively.

Haier Electronics has transformed itself into a home appliance channel service provider. “Sunshunshun” also integrates the design and manufacturing resources of domestic advanced small home appliance manufacturers and expands the category and brand within the sales network.

At the end of July this year, Haier Electronics and Carlyle Investment signed a memorandum of strategic cooperation. Through convertible bonds and other means, Haier Electronics has obtained funding of HK$1.067 billion. As the strategic investor of Haier Electronics, Carlyle will mainly participate in the development of the channel integrated business segment and assist in finding favorable investment and cooperation opportunities.

According to the Haier Electric semi-annual report, the upcoming completion of the after-sales business and the acquisition of the Haier Mall online sales platform will also help it create a core competitive advantage in marketing, logistics and after-sales triple play.

With the gradual phasing out of home appliances to the countryside and trade-in policy, Haier Electronics said it will launch more non-home appliances products. The acceleration of urbanization in China and the improvement of income levels will provide long-term driving force for the development of the tertiary and tertiary markets. However, washing machines are still the largest net profit source for Haier Electronics in the first half of the year. In the first half of the year, Haier’s overall gross profit margin was 11.7%. The gross profit rates of water heaters, washing machines, and channel integrated services were 40.6%, 27.1%, and 4.4%, respectively.
